Bellingham Community Chamber Orchestra

BACH to BOP

There is a world of music between J.S. Bach and Charlie Parker. The Bellingham Community Chamber Orchestra's winter concert explores that territory, opening with Bach's 3rd Brandenburg Concerto, and concluding with Charlie Parker’s “Yardbird Suite”.

After several additional short selections from Bach (including the “Presto” from Brandenburg Concerto #4, with violin solo and guest artists on flute and piano), and a brief and lovely experience of Debussy, the program will take a turn to the beautiful and fascinating music of Florence Price. She was the first African-American female composer to make it on the big stage, in the 1930’s. From her second string quartet, the orchestra will perform the Andante Cantabile movement, and a quartet from within the orchestra will perform the Juba movement.

The orchestra will then be joined by a three piece rhythm section (piano, bass and drums) for a couple of jazz tunes to conclude our program.

Please join us for an fun and eclectic evening of music at "Bach to Bop".
