The Bellingham Dixieland All stars Concert

The Bellingham Dixieland All Stars will take you back to a time when jazz music was in vogue in and around our country, and even the world. It was a time of "Art Deco” style buildings, statuary, airplanes, and even the Kalakala ferry boat that plowed the waters of Puget Sound in the 1950s was said to be designed in Art Deco style of the 1920s.
Welcome into the time of Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz trumpeter, ”flapper” dancers, "bathtub gin", Lindy Hop, Tin Pan Alley, raccoon coats, and the Charleston dance.
The audience is asked to join in the fun by dressing in the 1920s clothes when they attend. Audience participation is employed on some songs, and you can even join in with the dancers doing the Charleston dance. There is an instrument that you have never ever seen, and music played by players that can recreate the 20’s sound. In short, the concert will be filled with surprises and things that are unique to the 1920’s. Come a bit early and hear the band play outside the Firehouse and get ready for FUN.

Music Monday - Kristina Olsen & Cyd Smith
Kristina Olsen is one of the most entertaining and compelling performers on the international acoustic circuit. A superb multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar, steel-body slide guitar, saxophone, concertina, banjo, mandolin and piano) as well as an award-winning songwriter with a big bluesy voice, Kristina has audiences around the world coming back for more. Her mix of powerful songs ranging from sassy bottleneck blues to lilting ballads to swing jazz to raunch and roll (as well as her hilarious storytelling) makes for a diverse and satisfying musical experience, on stage, on disc and in book.
Cyd Smith is born and raised in the once-thriving metropolis of Syracuse, NY, Cyd survived adolescence by studying classical guitar, all the while absorbing the music of Jimi Hendrix and Dave Brubeck, not to mention the sounds of the Big Band radio station her mother preferred. The classical guitar path led her to the West Coast where, for a couple of years, she majored in music at Stanford University before becoming distracted by a boyfriend who introduced her to the rich treasury of American roots music: Bluegrass, Jug Band, Country Blues, Vintage Country-Western, and eventually Swing Jazz, where she found a home, playing in many Swing and Western Swing Bands throughout the Northwest. Cyd has blended all of these sonic ingredients into her own unique brew of songwriting and guitar playing. She is an explorer of the unexpected--lyrically, harmonically, and melodically.

Henry Mancini Concert by Dry Martini

Dry Martini, a classic jazz trio consisting of J. Michael Newlight (guitar and vocals), Mike Knutson (tenor saxophone) and Steve Webber-Plank (percussion), presents an evening of music by composer Henry Mancini, including classic hits such as Charade, Days of Wine & Roses, Dreamsville, Moment to Moment, Moon River, Mr. Lucky, Peter Gunn, Pink Panther, Slow Hot Wind, Two For The Road, and more!
They will focus on the early decades of Mancini’s collaboration with film and TV writer/director/producer Blake Edwards, beginning with the popular 1957 TV series Peter Gunn, and perhaps as late as the 1982 film Victor Victoria, although Mancini himself continued composing (and performing as a pianist) right up until his death in 1994.
Since most of the Mancini compositions were scored for orchestra, intended as soundtracks for film and TV, their work has gone into adapting the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic essence for the jazz trio.

The Pigeon and the Dove/ Reid jamieson & carolyn Victoria Mill

The Pigeon and The Dove: A History of Hatred & Love is a powerful and evolving lo-fi folk opera about Pigeons! Well, really, it's about housing insecurity and the many roads one can take to end up on the street. A mix of comedy, social justice, and dark yet danceable tunes. By singing these stories, we might make them easier to hear. But really...it's about pigeons.
WINNER of the Vancouver Fringe Stir Social Impact Award
“A tremendously important and much-needed piece of work.” Vancouver Stir
“A compassionate ode to the invisibilized struggles of the unhoused” Vancouver Arts Review
Reid Jamieson & CVM are a vocal powerhouse making music that matters and moves us. With an incredible voice, spirited guitar playing, and a magical way with melodies, Reid is that rare songbird whose originals are every bit as compelling as his interpretations. A classic introvert/extrovert combo, Reid shines alongside his saucy wife and long-time songwriting partner Carolyn Victoria Mill, where their unique harmonies and swapping of lead vocals make for an eclectic, entertaining, and sometimes heartbreaking variety show. Tireless promoters of voting, equality, and love, they thrive on creating intimacy, causing tears and laughter in equal measures. You won’t want to miss what they do next…
