Come celebrate an evening with Ryan Wapnowski as he debuts his long awaited solo album. Watch as he layers somewhat harmonized sounds into a tapestry of loops that he rarely synchronizes correctly. Village Books/Chuckanut Radio Hour - Dane Bahr
A Montana Winter, 1935. Bludgeoned and buried alive by his bank-robbing partner/half-brother, Bosco, Benjamin Kilt should have been a corpse. But now very much on this side of heaven, Kilt’s quest for revenge will be unlike anything the west has ever seen.
Kilt is joined on his journey by Bonnie, a thirteen-year-old Native American girl he somewhat reluctantly rescues from her abusive “keeper.” It is through Bonnie’s recollections in old age of Kilt’s thorny quest for justice that Dane Bahr’s masterful tale unwinds, showcasing the tragic, complicated history of the two brothers and leading to a showdown at the very ranch where they were raised.
For readers of Charles Portis, Elmore Leonard, and Annie Proulx, The Dead Ringer explores the slippery justification of questionable deeds done for honorable ends, a bold and haunting novel featuring a man brought back from the dead to exact revenge, only to discover that the world is capable of good no matter how tragic the end may be.
Dane Bahr was born in Minnesota. He is the author of The Houseboat and Stag. He lives in Washington State with his wife, watching his sons and orchard grow.
For more information on Dane, please visit the event details page at Village Books.

Pearl Django
With a performance history spanning more than 29 years and having released 15 CDs, Pearl Django endures as one of the most highly regarded Hot Club style groups working today.
Although the band’s roots are firmly in the music made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, its extensive repertoire includes traditional jazz classics and original compositions. The band has performed at festivals, dances and night spots throughout the U.S. and abroad. They have played at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois sur Seine and have been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered.” The band’s signature style is marked by pristine and dexterous string work, colors of Bal Musette, the steady pulse of rhythm guitar and an unmistakable swing that delights audiences of all musical sensibilities. Throughout the years, Pearl Django has cultivated a devoted and enthusiastic following and they continue to play to packed houses wherever they perform.
“Pearl Django play(s) gypsy jazz…and they do it with such verve, skill and pleasure that they’re pretty much irresistible to jazz and non-jazz listeners alike.” —Seattle Weekly
“Pearl Django: The gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt done to perfection!” —Paul de Barros, The Seattle Times (2002)
