Bellingham Youth Jazz Band

The Bellingham Youth Jazz Band is composed of fourteen local musicians ranging from 5th-11th grade.

Under the direction of Mark Kelly and the sponsorship of the Jazz Project this group puts on up to 40 free concerts per year for both public and private events. Founded as a training band for middle school musicians, it provides a way for beginning wind, rhythm and vocal musicians to learn the art of playing and performing big band & combo jazz standards.

In the post-COVID fallout that cut down on our school band program numbers, a number of high school students have joined this years group to help get us going again, many of them returning alumni.

Hear jazz arrangements of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis and others.
