The Bellingham Dixieland All Stars will take you back to a time when jazz music was in vogue in and around our country, and even the world. It was a time of "Art Deco” style buildings, statuary, airplanes, and even the Kalakala ferry boat that plowed the waters of Puget Sound in the 1950s was said to be designed in Art Deco style of the 1920s.
Welcome into the time of Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz trumpeter, ”flapper” dancers, "bathtub gin", Lindy Hop, Tin Pan Alley, raccoon coats, and the Charleston dance.
The audience is asked to join in the fun by dressing in the 1920s clothes when they attend. Audience participation is employed on some songs, and you can even join in with the dancers doing the Charleston dance. There is an instrument that you have never ever seen, and music played by players that can recreate the 20’s sound. In short, the concert will be filled with surprises and things that are unique to the 1920’s. Come a bit early and hear the band play outside the Firehouse and get ready for FUN.
