Award-winning WWU Opera offers a vibrant presentation of three American one-act operas tied together by the thread of family.
The story begins in the 1950s with Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge opening a window into the complicated inner thoughts of two couples as they play the iconic card game.
Set a generation later is Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Telephone revealing young lover Ben creatively navigating around his intended fiancé Lucy’s preoccupation with chatting on the telephone.
Finally, Ned Rorem’s Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters with a libretto by Gertrude Stein invites the audience into the imaginary world of five children playing a surreal yet humorous game of murder before bedtime.
Cost: Student: $0.00, WWU Faculty/Staff: $14.50, Adults/General Admission: $27.25
