In 2016, Cellist Jacob Shaw retired from worldwide concertizing and launched a consultancy service for cellists. Afterward, Jacob created the Scandinavian Cello School in Denmark, which welcomes students for tuition-free residencies. There, he teaches masterclasses, coaches the skills of performing under pressure at auditions and competitions, and offers career guidance to young artists. Over the past year, Jacob and the school have battled multiple setbacks and need support from the broader arts community.
Bellingham cellists Nick Strobel and Janey Bennett are pleased to present a benefit concert in support of Jacob and the school. They have built a program of new works for two cellos, from Diego Ortiz’s eerie early music to a joyous set of duos by 20th-century composer Halsey Stevens.
They look forward to sharing these works and your support of this renowned school.
Cost: Entrance by donation.
